Red tide at Imperial Beach. Red tide is a common name for a phenomenon also known as an algal bloom, in which large concentrations of aquatic microorganisms, such as phytoplankton, accumulate rapidly in the water, causing discoloration at the surface.

Salty Rose’s very own Caitlyn Rose (yours truly) has some good news. I will be leaving my  post for an excursion to TIFF where I will shower some famous people with my jewellery. Stop by Salty Rose’s this week to see all the goodies I’ve been making in preparation for this event
Local celebrity Lynda Lou MacIntyre will be here, so rest assured you won’t miss out on any salty shopping time

If you happen to find yourself hungry (or not hungry) in North Bay Ingonish I must highly recommend a visit to The Seagull. This place offers the best things an easy coast restaurant can; an amazing view (seriously, whoa), authentic service (you will understand post-visit), FISH & CHIPS (the best), and to top it off a 38 year old scenic mural by local artist Chris Gorey! Honestly, The Seagull is so great. The painting rules, I once heard a rumour that the artist was paid in fried fish. Or maybe that is a rumour I just started…whatever, don’t skip The Seagull.

Salty Rose’s is happy to be featuring lots of exciting new work this season.
Eve Hartling’s oil paintings evoke the deepest of calm. Her gentle palate makes me want to lie amongst the lily pads, close my eyes, and kiss the sky.
Eve’s inspiration brews while taking long walks or swims in Nova Scotian secret spots.

Oh the Cape North Farmers Market.
How to describe such a gem? My heart swells just to think of it! Brother John Buck sells the freshest cod, sole, halibut or salt cod and cod tongues while Joe Buck sells gnarly wooden “creatures” and wonky walking sticks.. The prettiest wild bouquets fill the old church hall with romance and hot muffins fill it with a delicious aroma. Fill up then make your way to Salty Rose’s where you will find me arranging my new flowers!

So, Salty Rose’s is now open. If you are driving around the Cabot Trail I would really like to see you.
